Luz Angelica Dominguez

aka Angie · Co-founder and Chief Financial Officer

Luz Angelica Dominguez is co-founder and Chief Financial Officer of Plastering Solutions Inc. Some people know her as Luz, others as Angie. Her half of the company is the half a homeowner rarely sees on a jobsite: the money and the paperwork. Jose holds the contractor license, CSLB #1044105, Class B and C-35. Luz holds everything that license obliges the company to do properly.

The question homeowners do not want to answer

Most people hesitate before telling a contractor what they can actually spend. The worry is reasonable. Tell someone your ceiling and it is easy to assume the ceiling is what gets spent, whether the work called for it or not.

Plastering Solutions Inc handles that by scaling the options to whatever a client is comfortable sharing. Nobody has to name a ceiling first. If the budget will not cover the full scope, that gets said early, while there is still time to stage the work or narrow it. A stucco repair quoted honestly at the size you can afford is worth more than a larger one you stall on.

Paying for the work

California caps what a contractor may collect before work begins. Plastering Solutions Inc works to that cap as standard, and the terms are written into your proposal before you sign it.

Payment after that follows the job. The proposal is approved, the deposit invoice is issued, the work runs, and the final invoice comes after the closing walkthrough rather than before it. Most clients pay by check. Card and debit are accepted.

What the warranty covers, and what it does not

The warranty runs two years against water intrusion on the exterior stucco assembly, and it covers material and labor rather than material alone.

What sits outside it matters just as much. Siding-only work, window units, door units and interior work are not covered by the stucco warranty. Saying so before a client signs is the point of writing the terms down at all. The full scope is on the warranty page.

Who deals with the city

Requirements vary by city and by scope. We confirm with your local building department before we quote.

Permit administration routes through Luz, from the filing through to the back and forth with the city. When a project needs an engineer or an architect, the company coordinates that too. Where all of it falls in the sequence is on the process.

The engineer who retrained

Luz studied industrial engineering in Mexico. What she did after that is the part about us can only summarize.

Once the company started taking shape, the trade side was only one part of the problem. Documents, payroll, licensing, laws and permits were not going to handle themselves, and being good at stucco does not touch any of them. So she enrolled in a bookkeeping course in the United States, roughly a year long, specifically to take that function over. Retraining in a second country, in a subject she had not studied, to fill a role the company could not buy.

The appeal of the job, in her telling, is straightforward: she likes working with numbers, keeping the records in order, and running the books with the kind of transparency that earns trust.

How she operates

Jose describes her as someone who will not leave a process alone. Whatever the company is already doing, her instinct is that it can be done better, that she can find out how, and that she can make it happen.

That is why the paperwork side of the company keeps getting tightened. A client who asks about money tends to get the same answer six months later.

Outside the office

Away from the books, Luz is usually in the water or on a trail. She swims, and prefers warm water. She walks several times through the day. On a couple of trips to Oahu she has hiked every time.

She bikes as well, though where Jose is off road on a mountain bike, hers is the relaxed version. She reads and writes for herself, mostly journaling what she wants or what she sees ahead. Cooking she describes as something that really relaxes her.

Co-founder

Plastering Solutions Inc is women owned in the operating sense of the word. Luz co-founded it with Jose in 2018 and has run its financial side since. The rest of the team is on about us.
